road closures started at 6:30 pm . We drove the detours and more than once the MPD put up barriers just as we got to a potential turn ( trying to get to Charlie Browns at 6:25 ) .
how does millburn get away with just rerouting/clogging up traffic for miles all the time--i know construction, races etc but it seems every couple of months for 10 years they have traffic snafus!

The complete streets project is expected to start within the next week or so. I'm looking forward to the completed project but it probably means a bit of construction in Millburn for the next few months.
this closing streets around Ridgewood Road area Ridgewood Road itself is getting pretty annoying just trying to go to Walgreen's. All through that area roads closed, roads dug up
It's sad to say but I avoid Millburn now. I've been in the downtown maybe 2 or 3 times in the past year.
The new parking on the street by the theater is odd. It's raised a little and feels like you're parking on a sidewalk. Then the meter requires you to type in your license plate #. Just annoying.
I actually like using my licence plate number better than remembering a space number. But the raised parking is awful. You always see cars hanging off it, especially since you need to avoid the stanchions that divide the parking from the sidewalk that is at the same height. It was meant to be "flexible" to allow a wider sidewalk for outdoor seating or events. But it just does not work.

From the twp website:
Downtown road closures will begin at 7:30pm until approximately 9:30pm. Expect traffic delays and please plan alternate routes to avoid the Downtown area. The following roads will be closed and/or detoured: Millburn Ave: Short Hills Ave to Wyoming AveMain St: Rector St. to Brookside DriveEssex St.: All of Essex St.
Parking:Normal on-street parking will be allowed, except in the following areas from 1-10pm on the day of the race:Essex Street: Lackawanna Pl to Douglas St on both sides.
My partner saw some drivers receiving tickets for trying to park on Essex St. today. Parking lot 5 next to Town Hall and Dunkin Donuts is a nearby alternative.
