Old Thread About Election Consequences

Asking for a friend.

Actually, asking for a lot of friends who were disregarded.

Sure, as long as you also question the folks who gave us a nominee so toxic that she lost to Donald Freaking Trump.

Did you all forget that the Russians interfered in our democratic elections??? THAT's what made the difference.

Based on what?  That has not been proven.

Not really. The district is pretty much center. I believe they voted overwhelmingly Hillary over Sanders. You can check.

I know people there having lived there and still going there. They got sick of Crowley, like an absentee landlord. He mirrored all the correct "liberal" talking points. But like Menendez there is a stench about him. His not showing up for a debate by sending a substitute and disrespecting Cortez really hurt him. Everyone knew and it was talked about.

Having said that I'm glad she won. Its time to get these who take us for granted comfortable fossils out. New blood.

I'd be happy if Pelosi lost the leadership.

Yes, really. We are agreeing. They got sick of corrupt Crowley and they are sick of Democrats who say the right things and then do the wrong ones or nothing.  The fact that they were more establishment (Hillary over Bernie) and now voted by a big margin for this Progressive--the tide may be turning.  It certainly sends a big message.  I would also like to see Pelosi go but Crowley, who wanted to replace her, is cut from the same cloth.

Sure.......I voted for the woman most qualified to be the next President ............and ir wasn't her.
Visions of the US treasury becoming a Clinton slush fund were just too strong.
Much better for the entire economy to be a Trump slush fund.
Actually I will leave it up to you...........surprisingly when I checked 100% of funds donated to the Trump foundation went to charitable endeavors

Of the Clinton Foundation 4%of funds collected went to charity
Also......as far as I could reference only one sitting Secretary of State charged a fee for Facetime
with her by visitors.  Almost 50% of those who would see her were required to make a contribution
to the Clinton Foundation
Even you...I can't believe you believe this hogwash. No proof, and tennis balls to boot.

 https://www.timesofisrael.com/clinton-foundation-donors-got-face-time-with-her-at-state/

Even a tennis ball at rest can be deadly

Bernie would have beat trump, but those who didn't vote for Clinton in the general out of spite are making everyone pay too high a price.

As for Crowley, I think he was left-leaning and generally liked, but that the district was changing demographically and he was becoming aloof and the NYT editorial (that neoliberal publication) is largely what did him in.

I haven't noticed the people in his district reading the NYT.'

That is I know them and when I mentioned something in the NYT the response has been, we don't read it.

Nope, they just got tired of the same old, the absent.

She had an incredible ad.  "Not all Democrats are alike"

wow. that is one confused set of "facts" you got there.

Doesn't it hurt to hate someone this badly?

 I love great ads.

Almost as much as I love it when people vote for the nominee in November.

Everybody who isn't totally in the bag for trumpism knows the Russians interfered. The intelligence agencies, the FBI, even a substantial number of Republicans in Congress.

The only people who deny it are the people who have something at stake in doing so.

Disdain is a much better word.  The woman had so little respect for half the American people that she made that awful quote about them.

She is a latter day Marie Antoinette......and history repeated itself.  Figuratively of course

And all the Kings horses and all the Kings men couldn't put HRC back together again

Maybe she'll move back to Chicago

I think Castro quoted the headline of the op ed ("What are we chopped liver?") when he was a debate no-show in a direct mail piece and on her FB page.  No need for actual NYT subscriptions.

No difference between Hillary and Trump huh?

I hope people don't take this the wrong way, but BernieBots who couldn't let go, and Stein supporters,  can really go to hell.   Do not pass go.   Just start digging.

I am so tired of reading CRAP about Hillary and Obama and the Democrats being flawed.   There was ONE choice here.  ONE.   Hillary on her worst day is a thousand times better than the ******* in the White House.   ONE CHOICE and only IDIOTS couldn't get it right.

No offense intended.

Actually, no.  Lots of people don't know that the Russians interfered or the affect that had and are still waiting, after this long investigation, for real proof.  It's not that we don't think the Russians could have interfered, since all major countries, especially the US interfere in elections all the time.  It's just that there is also a long history of secret intelligence lying for the purpose of manufactured consent.  Also, the Democrats thought that would be a good way place to find blame for their stunning loss.  And no I'm not a Putin puppet or in the bag for Trump.

No one knows what would have happened if Bernie Sanders had been the Dem candidate against Trump but from what I know of politics I would not be so sure that Bernie would have won. I have posted that many times. Further I do not think that voters who supported Bernie and did not vote for Hillary had significant impact on the result.

Crowley's loss is an old story. He got complacent and lazy. He never faced a real contest before, or at least not for a long time, he had many many times the money of his opponent and she was an unknown 28 year old. He severely underestimated her. And he failed to account for the demographic changes of his district.

A politician no matter how popular or entrenched must always "run scared" and take nothing for granted.

I think I would prefer to vote for the candidate who I consider best qualified to be the President of these United States.  I feel that not only is that my right but the best way I can serve my country.

I held my nose and voted for HRC so I call for a pox on both of your houses, the BBs for sitting out and allowing a monster into the White House and the Clintonians for stacking the deck so that an unelectable candidate (who was so toxic that a sizable slice of HER OWN PARTY wouldn't vote for her) got the nomination.

Hopefully both sides will learn their lesson from this clusterfrak. Me, I will go on voting for ham sandwiches, even if the meat is rotten and the bread is moldy.

Some precious voters on this thread who are unlikely minority or females of child bearing age. Or young. It will be our children and grandchildren who will bear the burden of the 2016 election.

And Trump was so toxic that leading members of his Party, including their last Presidential candidate, denounced him in rather strong language.

Blame Hillary for running a poor campaign and blame the working-class voters who were suckered by Trump. That's where the blame lies, not with the Dem establishment and not with Bernie supporters and maybe not even Putin. Maybe some blame is on Comey but that's about it.

Russia interfered. This is KNOWN and there is evidence of this. They did this by hacking emails and also with fake news (the real kind, not Trump’s labeling of legit news as fake when he doesn’t like what he hears). What isn’t proven is that Trumps campaign was directly involved.  Important difference

I’m a Bernie supporter, I voted for Clinton.  Not every Bernie supporter is an idiot asshat

I can blame all those people but I sure as hell am going to also blame  Susan Sarandon and her ilk. The "there's no differencers" will spend their eternity in hell changing Trump's diapers as he marinates in a pot of Russian hooker urine.

Voting like judicial appointments matter instead of voting to project your political purity is a strategy the left might want to adopt before.... It's too late

It's too late. We will lose all the rights we have for so hard for over the last 40 years..abortion rights, Gay rights including marriage, immigration rights, the right to a clean environment, even perhaps right to birth control. WE ARE ******.

Its sad but it is true.  Not only do we lose the past but we lose the future.  All progressive legislation will be declared unconstitutional while the red micro states insure that the Constitution will never be changed.  Its hard to see any real remedy for it other than Bluexit.
