Wonder how much revenue in taxes this will bring in?

I see potential revenue may be $158,974,353

Here's some projections:

So, I guess I need to tell ya the story.... 'bout 40 years ago, now.  Cousin Jim always had a supply. His best friend was Tom, former half back from Madison H.S. -- pretty big guy.

So Jim makes hash brownies. Tom is over the house and Jim shares one with Tom and me. About 45 minutes later, Uncle Ben comes home.

Now, Uncle Ben was around 6'2, weighted about 190. Also a big guy. But rugged looking. He resembled Richard Boone from "Have Gun, Will Travel." Uncle Ben also had a remarkable "Stink eye" that he would employ when pissed.

So Uncle Ben comes home from work and finds Tom lying flat out on the living room rug. Tom's nails are dug into the rug....

Ben: " And what the hell are you supposed to be doing?"

Tom: "I'm trying to keep from floating away."

There was no way that Uncle Ben could integrate that information into his life's experiences. So, he just shook his head and walked away.

This is followed by a case of laughs....

The end.

Brings to mind another Cousin Jim story.... He had several marijuana plants growing on the side of the house. Uncle Ben had died a year or so earlier. It was just Jimmy and his mother, Aunt Mae living in the house.

Uncle Frank, U.S Army major comes home from a tour in Viet Nam. He walks by the side of the house and sees the plants.

Frank: "May, what's that ya got growing there?"

Mae: "That's Jimmie's Himalayan Ferns that he planted. He says they're delicate and we shouldn't touch 'em."

Major Frank: "Himalayan ferns, eh?' --- and walks away with a slight smile.

Wonder how soon before we start seeing stores.

This just legalized personal use right? Not sales?

Stores might be here sooner than you think. The old East Side Fitness location on Springfield Ave seems to the in the process of becoming an Apothecarium:

https://apothecarium.com/?

(apologies - not sure why link isn't live...)

And, there is even a job fair at the Hilton Library for jobs at the Apothecarium

I think this legislation establishes a state board that will be responsible for licensing stores.

How does this translate to people getting sprung from the clink for low-level dealing and possession I wonder.

Good question. I know a lot of legislators were pushing for some kind of amnesty.

Good story to tell people who don't believe in white privilege.

Yes I'm assuming Cousin Jim is white, but I will recant if he wasn't.

And New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, among others.

Cory Booker brought it up during Merrick Garland's confirmation hearing today.

That session was pretty good. It just ended. I didn't have a chance to join when it started but it was a pretty straightforward discussion of the process of getting qualified, the way a patient would go about finding what products & dosage work for them, etc. Good info on the marijuana production standards - in many ways they are similar to FDA standards for production and testing.

I wish I'd been there to hear more about the available ingredients, not just the actual dosage forms. Those are just the way the drug is delivered to your system. I was more interested in the medicinal chemistry and pharmacology of it.

[I've been chatting with another attendee and these are some of the texts]

To wit, the Garden State hemp place on Millburn Ave has **TONS** of different products built around CBD and the other components like CBDG and so many more combinations. Is this just specific to THC or is there going to be an array of products that come out with different components, only with a standard THC concentration?

Anyway, the people I know are desperate for this to come true for Jersey. Feeling disappointed and angry about how regular psychiatric and pain meds have failed them somehow has them putting all their hopes into this. Not that they have been using it from extra-legal sources already or anything.
