Oh, my. Wish I had a good referral to give you, but all I can say is do NOT let it go. Check it out asap.

Hope all is well.

Peggy, Not for me but a neighbor. Hope all is well

OK, then I will go ahead and say what I didn't say earlier. Untreated Lyme is very, very serious stuff. The previous owner of the house we are now selling apparently contracted Lyme from a tick bite at that house, but she didn't notice or didn't deal with it. Sadly, she is now fully disabled, with constant tremors, seizures, and other symptoms. She can't work or do most of what her daily life requires, and her husband has now become an almost full-time caregiver.

So, Lyme has the potential to be a full-scale disaster.

Like I said, I wish I knew someone to refer your neighbor to. Perhaps start with a regular primary care physician and get referrals there?

Dr. Bernard Raxlen.

Absolutely.

also just do a search of LYME LITERATE MD NJ and see if any come up....or if it comes up with support groups...

many docs are clueless about lyme...you want someone that is specifically referred to as 'lyme literate md'

I just saw this thread after posting mine... I just found a tick that was feeding on my leg a few minutes ago... have a red spot where I found him and of course now am all worried ... will be a fun weekend...

@seaweed Untreated Lyme can lead to serious issues but there is no need for you to worry since you have just discovered the tick. I would suggest going to the Summit Medical Urgent Care in Berkeley Heights. They provide excellent care. Sending comforting thoughts your way

This is a problem that should not be ignored BUT it is not a panic time emergency.

The more you post that, the more panicked we become, formerlyjerseyjack.

Do not base decisions on whether or not you get a bullseye rash. They do not always occur with Lymes. As people have said, have the tic tested and go to a doctor. Summit Urgent Care is probably a reasonable starting point given that your MD is on LI. Best of luck; you'll probably be fine but might need treatment.
