Are you sure it's the vacuum breaker making the noise and not the air vent? Can you post a pic?

Plumbers,
I installed a Danfoss TRV on a 1 pipe steam radiator. The TRV seems to work at regulating temperature in a room after an energy audit / insulation upgrade to the house.
The problem I have is the TRV has a vacuum breaker (as it should), and when the heat cycles in the middle of the night the TRV vacuum breaker tends to pulse open and closed with a loud click and the steam/vacuum release is louder (hiss) compared to most other standard vents.
If it matters I'm using a remote sensor/thermostat mounted on the outside of the rad-box.
Is this just the nature of the beast? Do I have a defective (or at least sub-optimal) TRV? Are the Macon TRVs better?
Thanks!
Ps- it's loud during the day, I'm just not sleeping near it.
