LOST Orange Cat

Orange male indoor cat went missing 3/13. Last seen near Oakland Rd and Summit. Any advice or leads on finding him would be appreciated. He is a very sweet and friendly cat. 9178864535

Our neighbor had good luck with leaving out the litter box and some of their kids' dirty laundry. The smells seemed to have attracted the cat back.

I really don't know how far cats tend to travel, but I saw an unfamiliar orange cat when I was out walking my dog around 8 pm tonight, on Riggs near Irvington. I'll keep an eye out.

Indoor only cats tend to stay very close to home---they hide under bushes in garages, under porches. They may not meow when you call them , so you need to be eagle eyed. Here is a thread I started 7 years ago that has very helpful information. I hope your little guy comes home very soon.

Eric, you're not that far from Riggs Place so it's not impossible that he went that far. I echo all the things others have said up thread.

I live nearby--I'll check my garage.

His name is Mr. Orange (not very original). We will search in the Riggs area tonight after work. I checked with the shelter and he has not been brought in yet. He doesn't have any claws (rescue cat that was declawed by prior owner), so he is defenseless. He does have a microchip. We are very worried about him. All leads are very much appreciated. Thank you for all of the good advice too.

I think I saw him yesterday morning on Summit, possibly a couple of blocks from Oakland going toward Tuscan. He was super friendly and demanded lots of petting. The cat I saw yesterday did look a bit fluffier and possibly bigger than the cat in the picture. He rolled over onto his back a few times. I did notice he had no collar, because I checked. I walked on and he stayed put, maybe the corner of Summit and Madison or Plymouth.

Oh that sounds like him, he is fluffy despite the unfluffy photo. He is very demanding of affection. We will have to check that area again.

So, I went back and retraced my steps. No sign of the kitty but I can tell you that I saw him yesterday between 11 am and noon outside 24 Burnett and Summit. Good luck!

Did an expansive search before it got dark. No sign of our little friend yet. We stay hopeful that he will be found. If anyone sees our orange friend keep me posted. Me and the hubby will continue our search.

The very best time to look for him is right before the sun rises,and the rush hour traffic really starts, and late at night, when everything is quiet. If you can zap some tuna for a few seconds in the microwave and carry it with you in a small deli container, or if he likes a certain treat,shake the bag or container.

Searched today. Still no sign of him. I am hoping that someone felt sorry for him and took him in. Will continue to post to keep the thread alive.

Every time my (mostly) indoor cat has gone missing, we have covered the neighborhood with flyers asking people to "please open your garage door for an hour or so" and she literally comes back a few hours after we do that. Maybe try slipping flyers to that effect into people's mailboxes or under their doors?

I second this...I would go out late at night and very early in the AM (5ish) in the areas he has been seen. Shake his food container and call him.

Last yr I went to trap a cat that was hanging outside a local pharmacy. I went very early in the morning but she was nowhere to be seen. Then I opened a can of cat food and she came running. Happy ending. Best wishes for finding your cat soon. Posting signs ais especially important in your case. Because your cat is friendly, someone may have taken him in.

There is a fluffy orange outdoor cat that lives on Burnett Terrace between Prospect St and Summit Ave. This isn't the same cat, but people may be seeing that other one that roams the Prospect/Tuscan area frequently which might cause confusion.

Still no sign of Mr Orange. Tried walking around with food before the snow. Saw lots of cats about but not my orange friend. Will keep you posted if he is found.

Have you posted flyers in your neighborhood and on the community bulletin boards in Maplewood?

I saw a car very similar to this one on Oakdale Ave in Millburn off ridge wood road .. Will keep my eyes out tomorrow. Does he have a collar?

He doesn't have a collar. He has a chip. We have posted posters of him in Maplewood/South Orange but not in Millburn. Please call us if you see him again. We will also check that area. Thank you so much for the lead.

I haven't seen him but I've also been swamped with work. Post flyers in Millburn, it can't hurt!

Does anyone know what shelter serves Millburn? I have figured out the animal control situation in South Orange, Maplewood and Union.
