Local Pro Women's Soccer Team in league finals tomorrow

For those of you who don't know, Gotham FC is a professional women's soccer team that plays in the NWSL (National Women's Soccer League).  They play in Red Bull Arena in Harrison, just the other side of Newark.

Tomorrow we face off against OL Reign from Seattle for the league championship.  This is the first time we have made it to the finals.  Furthermore, the game will be a face-off between two long time National Team players who are retiring after this game (Ali Krieger for Gotham, Megan Rapinoe for OLR).    The game is being played in San Diego at 8pm (EST) and will be televised on CBS.

The NWSL is experiencing a lot of growth and success.   All kinds of big shots are getting on board.  Natalie Portman founded a team that plays in LA.  Eli Manning is part owner of Gotham along with Sue Bird.    For years players have suffered all kinds of indignities, this is finally changing.  I am a Gotham season ticket holder, it is shockingly inexpensive to attend these home games.  I have second row seats to watch the best players in the world.  We have three current US national team players on our club roster, and there are three more players who play for Nigeria, Brazil, and Ireland.

Gotham FC and the NWSL is an unrecognized gem here, in other markets teams sell out regularly.  For anyone who's interested in local sports, women's sports, or just what I'm sure will be a great game, I encourage you to watch tomorrow.

Phil and Tammy Murphy are the founding owners and I think they are still the majority owners.

Red Bull Arena is a great place to see a soccer match.

I watched the end. Great game!

The ending was very dramatic, but Gotham held on.
