Kushner Academy

Please tell me this school has nothing to do with our national disgrace, the Prince of Darkness, Jared Kushner.

I'd tell you that, but then I'd be lying.

It doesn't.  His father (Charles) built the school and named it after his grandfather (Joseph).  This is one of those cases where a sleazy person (Charles Kushner) did something decent.

I don't know if that counts for having "nothing to do with", but OK.

Institutions often have spotty pasts, particularly older, eminent universities which had slaves working on campus. Would you not send your kids to them, or if you found out you had a disease and the cure was developed there, would you refuse it? After all, Penn had Trump looming around its campus for four years or however long it took him to finish.

I thought they renamed it, and I also thought he was sill involved in ownership.  Not on my list of major topics so I have not kept up.

No he's not "involved in ownership".  It's a private school with a board of trustees.  The
Google is your friend if you're going to opine.

Kushner Academy Board of Trustees

The only Kushner on the board is Jared's uncle, who is not exactly a fan of Jared's dad.

This is a non-issue.  If there was an option to vote a thread for deletion, I'd vote for that for this thread.

Ok, it was the uncle--I was confusing him with his uncle.

Not sure when it opened, but Jared didn't go there. He graduated from Frisch in Paramus.

Eh? What cure for cancer was exactly developed at this place?

Sounds like we should avoid this place like the plague, or am I missing something? It's not just Jared that is a rotten apple, didn't his father go to jail after he tried to hook up his brother with some hookers or something?

it’s 25 grand a year at HS level so score one for Team Avoid Like the Plague.

Holy crap! Seriously?

I looked it up, and Charles Kushner was indeed sent to jail, and one of the things he did is set his brother-in-law(!) up with a prostitute, filmed the event, and then black-mailed his sister. You can't even make this up. And people are paying 25k a year for this crap?

You need to read Kushner Inc.

Will I feel better or worse after I read it?

Guys, if you just go up a few posts, you'd see that the school has nothing to do with Jared's father.

Newark Academy across the street is 40K so comparatively it’s a bargain.

Discount for the taint attached to the name.

Kushner is an Orthodox Jewish School. Newark Academy is not,

Exactly...people are paying for Orthodox Jewish private highschool, and Jared’s uncle was the name benefactor.

I don’t see a real political  issue here, and begin to wonder about the tone (and I’m someone who needs to find a new hotel option for Bnai mitzvah guests because of the Westminster’s Kushner/Trump connections).

Sadly, the tone is because everything associated with the name Kushner has been tainted thanks to Jared.

Does Jared's taint extend to: i.) his children; ii.) his first cousins; iii.) his future grandchildren;  iv.) his second cousins. and so on?

If so, what values/moral system gets you to this kind of thinking?

She asked about the tone of comments. At this point in time Jared has poisoned the Kushner name. Hopefully, his brother and future generations will redeem it.

It seems like bad marketing.  Would anyone want to attend the J. Dahlmer Culinary Academy even if it was actually founded by Janine Dahlmer?

Lets face it, in today's America the name Kushner is deeply associated with incompetence, corruption and crime.  I think that association will be with us for many years.

It’s Dahmer not Dahlmer.  “Should of” googled that first.

Maybe they should rename it to "Ted Bundy Academy"

Honestly, its not a topic I've spent much time studying.  I'm guessing those google results would be pretty horrific.

I wasn’t going to intrude on a friendly newcomer’s thread (where you left an untucked period showing), but fair warning here: You don’t want someone raining retributive grammar fire on your anonymous a**.

I think its just a case of bad marketing.  The name Kushner has become synonymous with incompetence, criminality and nepotism.  If it's any comfort, I think most people would be just as uncomfortable sending their kids to a "Trump Academy ".
