Jeopardy Hosts

I thought Sanjay Gupta did a very good job tonight, agree?

I really hope Levar does well.  His self-expectations are pretty high:

"It's difficult to explain, but there's something inside me that says this makes sense," Burton said. "I feel like this is what I'm supposed to do. I have been watching Jeopardy! more or less every night of my life since Art Fleming was host. Jeopardy! is a cultural touchstone, and for a Black man to occupy that podium is significant."

Levar's appearance starts on July 23rd.

Sanjay is pretty good.

Sanjay Gupta wrote about his hosting experience and gave some behind-the-scenes details here. He admitted that the host's clue readings are frequently re-recorded later on and likened his preparation to what he did before surgery.

Good for LeVar Burton for mentioning Art Fleming. I remember the days when Fleming was hosting the original "Jeopardy" while Alex Trebek was hosting "High Rollers."

It's finally Levar's week.  He did a good job last night.

I think LeVar is doing a decent job.  A little "flat" here & there.  But you can tell he's trying.  Compared to the current champion, LeVar is downright bubbly!

Last week's host, Robin, was the best.

Aaron Rogers is still one of my favorites

I feel bad for the contestants this week - the current champion is ridiculous.  At this rate - he may surpass Holhazer.

I'm on vacation this week and have missed every LeVar episode.  LOL

I LOVE Matt Amodio! Watching every night.

Reports are that the job has been given to the producer who was an early host.

That'd be Mike Richards.

I thought George Stephanopoulos and Sanjay Gupta were the best, but doubt they were gunning for the job. In general, the ones who are experienced with live news broadcasts and interviews were the best.

So it looks like it's Mike Richards as the new host, with huckster-snake-oil-selling Mayim Bialik as the host for specials and other possible spinoffs.

Mandatory mention that Bialik is a neuro-scientist.

What is "the end result of a phony audition process", Alex?

Unless I missed it, there was nothing about an audition process in this or subsequent announcements from the show about its interim guest hosts.

Well, I thought it was an okay joke as long as nobody got too technical about it. Let's just say that we weren't expecting the choice to be the result of a "room wide search" by the Executive Producer.

Some of the interim guests hosts certainly had the impression they were auditioning (LeVar Burton) and one of the guest hosts was chosen to be a permanent host (Mayim Bialik).

Lots of people had that impression. We get impressions all the time.

So how did Mayim Bialik get a job if it was not an audition?

I don’t know. Maybe Bialik was as much a ringer as people think Mike Richards was. But if the reason is that the Jeopardy! folks liked what they saw during her guest stint, that doesn’t make it an audition process.

I’ve already stepped on nohero’s OK joke once. No need for me to belabor the technicality, is there?

Mayim Bialik is only hosting a couple of specials. Some have speculated that the announcement of her as one of two hosts was concocted last week after there was such a negative reaction to Richards giving himself the main job.

Just say no to Mike Richards. He’s not up to snuff and is an insult to the memory of Trebek.

I think that Alex very much wanted Ken Jennings to take over after his death. Several other guest hosts would also be wonderful. Richards is everything that the fans don’t want. Let’s get Ken, Aaron, Buzzy. Jordy is immensely popular. Mayim Bialik INSTEAD of Richards would work quite well. Robin, though not permanently available, was top-quality! Even took a liking to Joe Buck after a couple of days. Mike Richards voted himself in—sleazier than Dr. Mehmet Oz, I’d say! No. no. no.

well, that was well handled.  LOL

Hope it's not Bialik.

drummerboy - Did you ever watch The Big Bang Theory? If you did, I think your perspective on Bialik would be different.
