Just carry the umbrella or actually use it?
Up to you. I like to wave mine around, unopened, in the fashion of a sabre-dancer.
Until then, I shall stand on my deck like King Canute and attempt to stop the ever-widening East Branch Rahway River from overflowing completely and pouring into my basement.
Does anyone know if this is going to stop today?
Umbrella seems useless. The roaring East Branch of the Rahway River (otherwise known as the stream by Memorial Park) had an impressive look this morning.
Isn't it already letting up? I was planning on working on my tan this afternoon.

I didn't have the impression that Ridski was planning to use his umbrella to stop the river.

I see what you did there.

I just saw a full-sized garbage can float past.
Sure it wasn't a single-stream recycling bin?
Please stop talking about the East Branch of the Rahway River. I live right across the street from it. It's why we are shelling out for flood insurance... I don't want to hear about it widening! (FYI, today's rain is really nothing compared to some other nor'easters and heavy rainstorms I've experienced.)

Sorry to hear that. Yes, today isn't the worst I've ever seen it, either. The East Branch Rahway River takes up about a third of my back yard. More like a half right now, though.

I don't believe anything unless I hear it from Max.
We spent the weekend in Georgia and had this weather already. Now we're back in this area, and here it is again.
A bit wet? I just saw an ark float by, and I'm on a steep hill in CT!
I just reconnected my 550 gallon rainwater tank yesterday, and it is full. Woo Hoo!
Tom, that's a common weather pattern. My family lives there. We get "their" weather the du after they have it. My worst vacay for me was last summer we had 8 days of pouring rain.
I thought maybe we started it and then it blew around to you...except it's still continuing in Sydney and NSW. Glad I'm not there, and what we had continuously for 24hours was relatively light.

I don't know if you have seen this before; we're kind of laughing at the impractality of the advice for most of our wet-weather events here. It's spread through the media via Twitter this morning.

bah, I spent all afternoon yesterday connecting my hoses and watering the lawn ... for what
Oh dear. Not to detract from US dampness and misery, but apparently Oz wet weather has turned nasty, with people dying, communities flooding and all kinds of ikky stuff. Not seasonal at all, and certainly not for where it's happening.

Looks like the Department of the Bleeding Obvious has been at work again.
