iPad 2 volume rocker arm stuck archived

For no apparent reason, no shock or damage, my iPad 2 volume rocker arm won't rock. Fortunately (?), it's stuck on high volume. On individual videos, I can adjust volume up and down, but can no longer do it manually. No one in Apple discussions seems to have had this problem and it seems to be mechanical. Anyone ever encounter this?

I was going to say that maybe something got wedged between the rocker and the case but screwing around with mine...it doesn't really rock, ie, it isn't on a pivot. Its almost like 2 buttons that are connected- pushing lower volume doesn't push the other side of the rocker up. In fact I can push both up and down at the same time.

Either something got under it or there is a piece wedged to the side.

I guess I should have started by asking does it feel like it is pushed down and stuck down, or will it move a little bit?

One should never have food around computers and related equiptment. Do I obey this? Nope, which is why I end up buying a new keyboard every year or so. LOL

Thanks. Looks like rocker but isn't. I'll poke around.

Doesn't move. Feels like it's pushed down and stuck.

I eat and drink at my keyboard, which was purchased circa 1991. They just don't make 'em like they used to. :-D

GL2, it's probably time to make a trip to the Apple Store.

Yes, it feels like that.

I don't think I've ever ruined a keyboard or mouse or monitor with food or drink. Not that I recommend eating near a computer.

May I be the first to laugh at myself for calling that little rocker thing a "rocker arm?"

Looks like you ain't alone.....

iPad is under a year old? Under warranty, barring obvious physical damage.

Back it up to your computer, check your receipt and go to the SHM or Tekserve in NYC.

Let us know what happens.

Be well, all.

David

Thanks davidbuckley. I'm in RI and will visit Apple store next time I'm at the mall. As I said, I can still adjust volume w/slider on actual videos, which makes me lazy to respond to problem. Stay tuned.
