On the other hand, I live only about 120-odd miles from the epicentre and was woken by the 'quake! I heard this low rumbling sound and felt the bed shaking. It took me a couple of seconds to realise I wasn't dreaming.
I turned on the radio to a local talk station, heard what they were speaking about, and decided it wasn't just a very low flying transport jet or a large truck passing nearby.
We only knew because they (there were several) became the main topic of conversation and political humour… All my friends and family are fine, including those living in the area.
