In the scheme of things, this is minor. But ...

Can't figure this one out. It's bugging me. My daughter has a college email address. Her name is misspelled in the display (FROM field) when my husband and I receive email from this address. She checked with her college's IT dept to see if they set it wrong. But, no, that wasn't the problem. She sent emails to a bunch of friends, and her name displayed correctly for them.

So you would think that I made a typo when I created the contact in my email account. Nope. Checked my contacts, and her display name is spelled correctly. I had her send an email to my other email account—where she is not even entered as a contact—but her name was still misspelled. AND it's misspelled when my husband receives emails from her as well. Apparently, we're the only two people receiving the display misspelling.

Either I have to fix this or I am going to have to change the spelling of her name to match the display!

It'd bug me too. And I have no idea why that would occur, randomly. Surprised no-one else has replied.

What software or website does she use to send mail? And what do you use? These are critical to solving this problem.

Could you have misspelled her in your address book by mistake so when it is incoming, it translates to something you inadvertently did in your address book of contacts?

Gmail. Both of us.

No. I already checked that. As I said in my OP:

Maybe she's messing with you. cheese

Did you have her send it to a non-gmail address? You said "other" but did not specify whether it was or was not gmail. If it was, try sending it to a non-gmail address. Also, try deleting her contact info in your gmail account and setting it up again. Possible that some attached cloud account has it wrong.

The "other" account mentioned in my OP is also a gmail account. Yesterday she sent me an email to an old yahoo account that I have. It displayed correctly! So I narrowed it down to a gmail problem. I had the same thought as you -- last night I deleted her contact, signed out of google, signed back in, and re-entered her contact info. Waiting for the test email ..

Thanks, all.

@Tom_Reingold yeah, maybe grin
