How do I get a squirrel out of the house?!

I've called S. Orange Animal Control but there's no one there on the weekend. Who can I call? The squirrel is trapped in the bedroom.

I'd be ever so grateful for your help!

Maybe a trail of peanuts leading out the house.

Call Jerry Buckingham? If he doesn't remove squirrels, maybe he knows someone who does.

Then, look up the squirrel episode of This American Life, and ctrzaska's bat thread on MOL, and have a good long laugh.

(edited to correct bad --> bat)

Certainly there is a window in your bedroom. The squirrel will not harm you. Simply open the window and the squirrel

should exit. Monitor closely . As soon as you sense the squirrel has exited, close the window.

Now the question is how did he get in there to begin with.............for that you need Jerry Buckingham or animal control but at least for now he should be out of the house..

This, as below, it worked for me once.

Open front door worked for me the time a baby squirrel fell out of a ceiling vent in the dining room.

borrowed a groundhog trap (after our squirrel trap did nada for days). It worked. Released to wild. But lived with it for aweek in the house. Good luck.

Open the window before the squirrel tries to gnaw his way out thru the window sill. Trust me.

I have a Have a heart trap you can borrow, you just bait it with something like peanut butter and seeds or nuts. Its easy to set up and to take out side to let the little guy go. And yes, it will seem a little scary the first time, but its really not so bad.

Long term, figuring out how to keep squirrel out is a larger discussion. They have a habit of chewing through eaves on old houses near the gutter line. They are very capable of burrowing into the attic.

You should have taken away his Gameboy, cell phone and remote. He would have left in 15 minutes!

I had one in my attic some years ago..I opened the door went outside, propped the front door open...waited by the sidewalk and let it walk out....of course if there is a hole it is getting through you have to close that off or it will be back....a trail of food might help, but could also encourage it to return....if possible, put the food outside the window/door
