PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and
humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees
for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any
length of time.

Seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health
conditions are at an increased risk. Homes without air
conditioning can be much hotter than outdoor temperatures.

Use air conditioning to stay cool at home or go to a place that
has air conditioning. Check on vulnerable friends, family members
and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency! In cases of heat stroke call 9 1 1.

Looks like it doesn't end until Tuesday.

As always, thanks Max.

Looks like it's going to be a bunch of hot days.  It might be wise to make containers/blocks of ice now in case of a power outage.

The Heat Advisory has been extended through Sunday

Thanks, Max! It's gonna be hot. Conserve energy (the power grid's and yours) where you can to avoid outages and heat stroke. Stay inside in AC if you can. I always feel so bad for people who have to work outside in weather like this. More so than when it's really cold. You can warm up working, but it's hard to cool off doing the same.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Storms are popping up right around us and then moving Northeast, so it is possible that we could get hit without much radar warning in the next couple of hours. Keep an eye out and an ear open for lightening and thunder.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means that conditions exist that could lead to the development of severe thunderstorms in our area. The main risk from these storms would be brief heavy rain and moderately gusty (25 - 30mph) winds.

The graphic below is for the watch when it was initially issued, it has been extended southwestward to include our area.

Got a pretty incredible supercell over NYC out of this. Tried quite hard to drop a tornado directly in front of my office.

WxNut: Wow!

Max:  What temperatures is Maplewood experiencing today? Our basic thermometer was signalling 105.6 at 4:40 this afternoon.

You can always get Maplewood temp. Just click on home at the the top of your screen. There is time  and temp. 82 degrees this minute.
