Good Veterinarian

Since we are moving here and have a cat, who do people use for vets? We will live within walking distance of South Orange Animal Hospital, but don't mind driving a little further if there is someone better.

Thanks

I love South Orange animal hospital and Dr Levine. You couldn't ask for better veterinarians

I love Dr. Levine from South Orange Animal Hospital. When my dog was alive, at least a half-dozen times, he came in on a Sunday to see him. I don't really remember but I think he might have charged an emergency fee once. He loves animals and he is so compassionate. He helped me keep my Lab alive for 14 years--the last two with diabetes.

We've also had very good experiences with Dr. Levine. Reasonable and knowledgeable and super nice guy and I think he really enjoys caring for animals.

You will be very happy with South Orange Animal hospital. Dr. Levine or Dr. Knight are both good options.

We've used SO Animal Hospital for over 30 years. Love Dr. Levine and his staff and have been impressed with Dr. Knight, too (just haven't known her that long). Everyone's always been caring, compassionate and very skilled with our dogs (and our rat, years ago, but I don't know if they still treat small non-dog or cat animals). Dr. Levine has always listened to my concerns and never made me feel rushed or talked down to when we were discussing treatment options for the animals.

Another vote for Dr. Levine. We've been with him for many years, through many pets. I have no complaints.

Dr. Levine, hands down.

Dr. Levine and Dr. Knight are both AWESOME!

Are they relatively affordable for vets? Sometimes a good vet can cost a fortune

No only affordable but super considerate and very reasonable!

I have no personal experience with Dr. Levine or Dr. Knight but have heard great things about them from friends.

We have been very happy with Dr. Stack and Dr. Johnson and I would say that they are very affordable compared to others in the area.

Dr. Stack has a reputation as a suberb diagnostician. He has diagnosed problems that other vets were unable to. His practice does indeed charge less than others. The practice served us well (until we moved away).

Yes. We switched to them after another vet had been nickeling and diming us to death. And we never felt that they were either overcharging or recommending unnecessary but extremely expensive tests or treatments there. They are quite rational!

In addition some of the common meds for heartworm for example are sold at the same or better prices than the internet retailers.

I love Doctor stack and doctor Johnson. Reasonable and relatable - just wonderful people all around. I take my 3 dogs there.

+1

I also use Dr. Sepulveda in Glenn Rock.  I have used his services over sixteen years, and my PETS love him.  He separated from Millburn Veterinarian when Glauberg sold the business, so he established a practice with the latest equipment for non- invasive surgeries and other methodologies -- hey, veterinary medicine is not my field.  http://veterinarywellnesscenternj.com/

I love Dr. Stack.  Very caring and professional.  I just had my GS dog neutered and everything was explained to me before the procedure.  Buddy is fine and was very well taken care of by Dr. Stack and Dr. Johnson.  I highly recommend them.  Their staff is so nice and helpful also.  Jodi, Olga and all r the best caring people.  Taking my animals there for yrs.  even fostered some dogs for Ruth and came on his property for adoption day.

Another recommendation for Drs Stack and Johnson at Valley Vet.

On top of the professional expertise, we also love Dr. Stack dry humor (sorta Monty Pythonesque).

Absolutely Dr Stack!  For the routine, of course, and he's seen us through rough times and serious illnesses with correct diagnoses and wonderful treatment plans and sympathetic and compassionate care at the end.

If you are still deciding we are pleased with dr. Levine

If you are still deciding we are pleased with dr. Levine.  He and Dr. Knight are both very concerned with their patients.

I drive from West Orange, near Montclair border, passing by two local vets, to get to South Orange Animal Hospital.  (Over the course of my dogs' lives, we have used Madison Vet, Millburn Vet, West Orange Animal Hospital and have been happiest with Dr. Levine's office.)

Why?

Extremely knowledgeable vets who clearly love animals. They always take the time to explain everything - you won't feel like you're being rushed through your appointment.

Flawlessly done surgeries - minor and major!

Much more reasonably priced for professional services and the products they have on hand.

You can not find better emergency responsiveness, including off-hours.

Regular business hours are great.

Friendly, helpful, relatively efficient front desk.  They treat you like you are the customer and that you matter, rather than that you are bothering them.

So many people on MOL love this office - Thanks to their rave reviews over the years, I am very happy to have made the switch.

They happily work with The Seeing Eye®  and care for many of the puppies that Puppy Raisers in the area raise, including Demi, the 7 month old black lab pup my daughter is raising.

And let's be clear -- had Dr Stack wanted to, he'd have made a hilarious, cynical, stand up comic!
