Good/Affordable Electrician, Local to SOMA?

Any recommendations?  Thanks!

Affordable? ya gotta be kidding.

Affordability is hard to pin down.

We’ve used Avivi electrical. (908)884-8524.  I think their work is good and their rates are reasonable, based on comparative estimates I’ve gotten from other contractors.

I have used Toth Electric to upgrade the house to 200A service (including a new electrical panel and new ground rods and wires etc. (but not inside house wires) in order to put in a new HVAC system for the house.  The work was nice and neatly done in one day.

PSE&G also replaced the street electrical feed cable from the pole to the outside electric meter.

You can give them a call, they are in Mountainside, is that local enough ?

Electrical Contractor Northern New Jersey | Toth Electric

I see Toth’s truck around a fair amount.

I think most of the independent contractors like Toth and Avivi are going to be comparable in price. There’s a small range of hourly labor rates and they all use the same suppliers for materials. They all have their own markups for sure, but I think they have to try and maintain parity with other contractors.

There are big companies like Gold Medal that do electrical work that ramp up their prices and throw in things like warranties to increase their revenue. Plus their employees are incentivized to try to upsell.

Thx!

I used the search tool here to check on the spelling of this guy’s name, and I found something I posted here in 2017:

Not sure if an electrician is overkill for your need. IF not: Greg McGarry; Power Plus Electric. Found recs for him here, about 3 years ago. Used him on 2 occasions. Good work; good value; seems like good guy. He told me he grew up here, but lives 2 counties over - last I spoke w/him. Most of his work is here, though (he told me).

We use Toth.  Always very good work.

Based on a recommendation here, I recently used All City Electrical to install an EV charger.  The price seemed reasonable compared to what I was seeing on the internet.  They were pleasant and responsive to deal with.
