Flood WARNING Sunday (Oct 29)

From the National Weather Service:

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the Entire Area for Sunday & Sunday Night, AND a High Wind Watch for eastern sections Sunday Night.

Regarding the Rain:
A widespread 2 to 3 inch rainfall is expected, with isolated amounts of around 6 inches possible.

Regarding the Wind:
Southeast winds are forecast to increase to 15-30 mph with gusts of 30-45 mph.  Stronger gusts up to 50 to 60 mph are possible Sunday evening into Sunday night for much of coastal Connecticut and Suffolk County of Long Island.  Expect small tree branches to fall along with widely scattered power outages. Thus the High Wind Watch has been issued for eastern and eastern coastal sections.

Seriously?!? But it is so NICE out right now!

well, this is exciting news.

And of course I'm flying tomorrow afternoon...

Mrs. C's JetBlue flight from Boston to Newark today at 10:35 am was cancelled. She rebooked on the same flight tomorrow. Now all she has to do is find a hotel. She was staying at the Marriott Courtyard Cambridge and it's overbooked for this evening. She's checking alternatives.

Cramer --I'd suggest she take the train back.  It's an easy trip between Boston and Newark.  Some of the trains continue on to Newark (they are going to Washington) and some finish up in Penn Station New York or she could even get off in New York and take a train to SOMA. For me one of the good things about the train is there is no security check so you just get to the station and get on the train. So even though the train is slower you don't have to get there an hour or so before.

 rolleyes

I don't want to overhype this.  We, here, are looking at an inconvenience, not some epic storm.  2 +/- inches of rain, some gusty winds, small streams might flood and roads might pond.  Stay in if you can, make hot cocoa, and binge Stranger Things.  There are worse ways to spend a Sunday...

NoraCharles - Thanks. Everything is cool. She's taking a JetBlue flight tomorrow and got a reservation at the Marriott Cambridge, which is just a few minutes away from the Marriott Courtyard Cambridge, where she has been staying.

Please note, if you lose power but "Stranger Things" continues to play on your TV, take your chances in the storm and get out.

we have tickets for Chihuly Nights at Bronx Botanical tonight. Dreading this.

everyone is saying 35-50 mph wins tonight is this true?  ...

I'm looking outside and don't understand why Mrs. C's flight was cancelled. It looks ok outside - a little rain, but that's it. Her flight was supposed to land at 12 noon. I did finally get through to Jet Blue to ask why the flight was cancelled and they told me it was because of bad flying conditions on the east coast.

My wife is flying in from Hong Kong where she was at a trade show . Her flight was delayed but not because of the weather here . Her flight is  coming in at 330 only 30 minutes late . I guess it depends on the connection her plane was already in Hong Kong .

That is the highest possible gust, not a steady wind.  At least not here.  The worst of the storm is east of us.  Suffolk cty and Conn will see those winds.

Downpour at the Jets game.

Well, now we’re starting to get hammered... This is the point when the real storm was supposed to kick in (which it seems to be doing).

Can't wait for the Monday morning commute complaints to start!
