Durand-Hedden WW I

Learned a lot at this terrific exhibit.  Hats off to the organizers, including a South Orange-raised collector of WW1 artifacts, such as Bolo knives, medals, a draft card, and the tiny bible carried by his stepfather (who made it back).  Also loved the Theda Barra re-enactor who really looked like Theda Barra.  Also loved the histories of SOMA's own WWI casualties, of which there were fortunately only 8.   Of these, more died from the flu pandemic and and training accidents than from combat.  The WWI memorial rock in Memorial Park lists their names.  Thank you for your service, forever-young sons of SOMA.  Rest in peace.
