Drainage issue

We have flooding issues on our lawn (underground spring we were told). We had someone come & install something that drains the water to the curb. So now we have water flowing down the street - all the way to the sewer...and are concerned our neighbor’s are going to get upset.  Is there anything else we can do - w/o costing any additional $$?  Can the town possibly fix this?  Add another sewer or connect us to a drain pipe?

Any advice is welcome!  Thanks!

Does the water flow down the sidewalk (really annoying for those who have to ford the resulting stream) or down the gutter?  If the gutter, you may want to check with your town since this may no longer be legal.  My next door neighbor told me he could not run a pipe to the roadway because this was no longer permitted in our town (Maplewood).  I haven't verified this but he is a person who carefully researches these things.  I believe current practice is to drain to a dry well.

we do not have a sidewalk. it drains out to curb via pipe (just installed)..so it runs along the curb. definitely have seen much worse, but definitely not great. - and we are not in maplewood, just a neighboring town.

That will be murder in the winter when it freezes.  I wouldn't look to the town to fix a problem that they didn't create.

This is no longer permitted. Your contractor will need to install a cistern with a drainage field for the water

Check with the Town. A dry well may not be needed for water originating outside of your house.
