Dog sitter for 3-4 weeks?

We are considering a trip away this summer that would be for a period of 3-4 weeks and so I am beginning to research different options for someone to care for, exercise, and provide lots of love to our beagle. He is 2 1/2 years old, sweet, energetic, house trained, and gets along with most (but not all) other dogs. I would not trust him in a house with cats since I think he would try to chase them. And definitely could not be trusted with rabbits, guinea pigs etc. Great with children and adults. In the past we have used Preferred Pet Care and been very happy. However, I am thinking that it would be better for him this time to be in someone's home since it is such a long duration. I might also consider a house/dog sitter if anyone knows of a responsible individual who would be interested in spending a month in South Orange in late July - late August. Any and all recommendations are appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Probably about 30 minutes away...but in Linden there is a woman named Peggy Sue who has a dog walking business. I do think she boarded dogs too. I have found in her the past by googling 'Peggy Sue dog walking' She is an actual business that I beleive is bonded/insured Other than that you can look on care.com.

Cup of tea, i don't know how to send you a private message....please contact me....and i'll give you my phone number....I think I managed to send it to you!

Have you tried dog gone farms (@Gabbie on mol)

Our dogs LOVED it there

@cupoftee, sent you a pm.

Care.com has many "hobby" pet sitters who may not be insured/bonded. There are many professional pet sitters listed on MOL business listings. You can also check on www.petsit.com to locate a pet sitter (Pet Sitters International).

Are you still looking?

Would you consider a person with a day job who would live in your house, walk and feed the dog in the morning and be with the dog after work and overnight? For example, a College student at home for the Summer.

cupoftea, hope all is well...it shows you haven't read my message to you from days ago.....petsitters book up quickly for the summer.....please keep that in mind no matter who you go with.....thanks! kiss your pup for me!

@onehandclapping That's strange. I marked it as read and sent you a message in return.

Thanks to everyone for your responses and I know that time is ticking in booking someone or someplace. Unfortunately, we have not been able to finalize our plans, but I am hoping that things will fall into place in the next two weeks!

@cupoftea, my wife has a dog walking biz. She is more of a hybrid of dog walker/day care provider. Many people see her bc she walks a group of about 10-15 dogs daily. She also hosts sleepover guests. Am happy to put her in touch with you. If her set-up/pricing doesn't work for you, she knows many providers in the area and can give you reliable reco's. LMK if you want to chat with her.

Another plug for Doggone Farm. We were out of town for a six-week span two summers ago, so our dogs got to spend an extended time at "summer camp" there. They loved it and came hope healthy and happy.
