Do they make entry doors with mail box slots?

Looking to replace an entry door for someone but she needs a door that already has a slot. If we had to, we could have a carpenter install a slot but I'd rather not. I've looked online but the steel and wood models good looking do no come with mail slots. Any ideas?

If you decide to go that route, get a mailbox slot that can handle the winter cold air.  There is a company in Canada that makes an insulated box so the cold air does  not affect your house temperature.

I'm not sure if there are any companies which provide entry doors which come with a mailbox. As Sumida has suggested it would be wise to go with the insulated box. The colour of your mailbox should unite with that of the door not hampering the curb appeal. Ensure the door closes properly so that the mail is kept dry. Try checking with Clera windows and doors (https://www.clerawindows.com/). Bear in mind that mail slots create a hole in your door that goes against the grain. With plenty of options available,  a good front door will improve the curb appeal and at the same time have a good resale value. Residential mail slots are more secure than non-locking post mount or wall mount mailboxes.

Does the mail slot have to be in the door itself?  A number of houses I have seen in town have the mail slot inserted off to the side of the front door.

I just replaced my front door and had the mail slot installed at the factory before it was delivered to my place.  Jaeger Lumber on Morris Avenue in Union.  See Tom M.

For the door we purchased, I hired a local handyman in that area to install a mail slot for us and added a catch basket on the other side. 

I have seen also seen many mail slot inserted off to the side of the front door. before some i also buy shower doors from www.dabbl.de

Just in case you want to deal with having one cut. Ours is similar to this, but the front door opens into a foyer, with a solid door between it and the house, so the cold air is mostly only leaking into the foyer.
