Cute story from Western Australia - a kangaroo that thinks it's a dog!

Isn't that a glorious photo of the 'roo sitting in the back of the ute with the dogs?

Not even a seat belt on those babies?  that is wild country.  They can get hurt!

Ha!  It seems that Dusty is not the only marsupial that has taken up with Aussie families...

Copihue, usually there's a safety harness that clips to the bed of the tray, and a long leash.  But out bush, those dogs are actually working dogs and will jump from the tray to the ground, muster the flock/herd and then jump back up to the slowly rolling ute as it continues on.  It's more efficient for the dogs to be self-determining while the farmer/drover drives.  You should see them muster with the dogs on quad bikes...

One of my ladies used to have a 'roo when her kids were fairly small, and they lived in a smaller town.  They 'ran the picture show' there, and the 'roo used to hang around the waste bins at the back, hoping for discarded ice creams.  Her husband Mick decided it needed regular proper food, so he slowly began to feed it, then brought it to their backyard to keep it safe 'and told the local copper, but the police weren't interested'. So 'the kids played with the young 'roo, and he stopped there for a few years until he grew up'. oh oh
