I was so sorry to read this story earlier - one writer noted that local soldiers leaving to fight in the Civil War would have seen the steeple of this church as they left to join their regiments. So much history, gone.

I just read that the beautiful historic church in West Orange on Main Street at Northfield Ave caught fire last night. Something about how it was on that rise made it seem majestic even if it was a little worn around the edges. I passed that church many times a week, driving past there now will just be depressing.
