China Warns its Tourists about American Gun Violence

On some level, Americans must numb themselves to the shootings.  Otherwise, we'd never leave the house.  Now whenever someone says: "It's happening again!" you know exactly what "it" is. At the latest shooting at the Capital Gazette news in Annapolis, the first law enforcement responders had to walk into an abattoir (12-gauge pump action shotgun) while looking for the perp.  He was hiding underneath a desk.

nytimes.com:  Beware U.S., China Tells Its Tourists: Hong Kong -- China has warned its citizens about traveling to a foreign country with "highly frequent" gun violence.  That oh-so-dangerous place?  The United States.

The notice, issued by the Chinese Embassy in Washington on Saturday, was China's latest effort to warn tourists about a land where gun violence kills about as many people as car accidents -- a rate that far exceeds that of any other rich nation.

And in an April notice on WeChat, a messaging platform, the Chinese Foreign Ministry warned that gun crimes happen frequently in America.  "Be careful and prepare for the possibility that gun crimes may occur at workplaces, schools, at home and at tourist sites," the notice said.

Norway should also warn.

Jokes that you can be played in Norway can be dangerous here, especially in gun states like FL. The Norwegian government should advise their citizens the cultural difference.

A birthday surprise went horribly wrong after a man in Florida accidentally killed his son-in-law, who showed up unannounced at his house in Gulf Breeze, a suburb of Pensacola, Fla.
Christoper Bergan, 37, flew in from Norway to surprise his father-in-law Richard Dennis, 61, for his birthday, Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson said in a press conference on Thursday.
“Anybody who is religious out there, you need to pray for this family,” the sheriff said. “I can’t imagine what they’re going through... it’s horrible.”

Anyway, the Norwegian family has been gifted thoughts and prayers.
