Books

anybody reading anything great??

"The Interestings," Meg Wolitzer

"Grocery," Michael Ruhlman

"The House Girl," Tara Conklin

"Living in the Weather of the World," Richard Baush (stories)

"Motherland," Maria Hummel

"This Boy's Life," Tobias Wolff

"The Life of Louis Kahn," Wendy Lesser (bio)

"The Radium Girls," Kate Moore -- non-fiction, much takes part in Orange

"The Stars are Fire," Anita Shreve

(Well, look at that. The weather has been awful and I'm a fast reader, but still, that's a lot of books in just a few weeks...)

I am greatly enjoying Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run, though I missed out on being a fan, and it's plenty long.  Lots of enthusiasm, Jersey "history," mostly short chapters....  What a life!

eta:  Don't let my mouth-breathing description put you off this book.  The guy has thought a lot and written a lot for many years.  He's deep serious about the music and life, but doesn't take himself too seriously, if that makes sense.

I just finished Origin by Dan Brown. Really enjoyed it.

Sticky Fingers ..Story of Jann Wenner and Rolling Stone Magazine

Fire and Fury!!!!!

I was given the new Tom Hanks book of short stories, "Uncommon Type," over the holidays.  I liked it quite a bit even though his obsession with typewriters gets a bit annoying. Every story has a typewriter in it. Okay already. We get it. It's written in his "aw, shucks" tone which is sort of cute and fits with his overall persona.
