Best place to buy a Snowblower

I posted earlier in the year, but would love to get a better idea as to 1. Where I should buy a snowblower for the best service and expertise. 2. Any reccos on specific models? Do I want 2-stage? Electrical Start? I have a 100 foot driveway up a fairly steep (for SOMA) incline. Thank you all!

Go to P and P lawnmowers. They helped me select the right model. Prices are ~$50 more than the online places but I think it was worth it.

We bought from these guys, in the middle of one of the storms when everyone else was sold out. Came in a few days. Free shipping and no sales tax.

I bought from Snowblowers Direct a few years ago, but after having two recalls and one repair, all handled by P&P I would recommend purchasing from them. Had I known how accommodating and reasonable they are, its worth dealing with a small business person that really knows what they are doing.

I believe responded to your last post regarding blowers and my recommendation is still the same. Any of the Craftsman (Sears) 208cc snowblowers would do fine for your driveway. The only thing I'd do differently is I'd get the model that turns itself instead of me having to pitch up the front end and spin it while engaging the drive. Very minor issue but I am lazy. As far as service and expertise mine wasn't expensive enough to be considering either at the time I bought it. Looking at the reviews I didn't see any mention of Craftsman breaking down anyway. The little things that need to be done to keep a blower running forever are really DIY type stuff even for the least mechanically inclined person. Changing shear bolts is as easy and changing a light bulb. Oil changes are simple as well and really aren't done very often. I went with electric start only as a backup. I just thought if the cord ever breaks at 8pm during a snowstorm it would be terrible to have a snowblower and still have to shovel because I couldn't get it started. I only used it once to see if it actually worked. The blower starts on the first pull every time with the cord. No question you want a 2 stage for the type of snow we get here. I actually replaced a single stage electric with my Craftsman. The only reason I havent gotten rid of it is i like to kick it and call it names every time I pull the other blower out of the garage.

Yes, P&P, educated us, delivered, gave us a verbal tutoring, and will pick up for repairs, so glad they are local. When I had questions and it was in the middle of a storm, he always picked up and answered my query.

J&A in Union. I buy all my power equipment there. Jason and John are both very helpful and patient.

Definitely use P&P for maintenance and repair and consider also purchasing from them. You might pay a little more, but you will probably get the right snowblower for your needs, which might or might not be the case otherwise (depending upon your knowledge and/or researching prowess.)

also use and are happy with J&A in union

Ive been fine with the one I bought at Sears

Ariens two-stage from HD

Don't forget McManus - on Valley, in Orange.

Tonight, I saw a family examining a snowblower in Costco (Union) - never saw that before. Didn't catch manufacturer's name.

P&P service dept. is excellent.

Another vote for P&P

Yellow pages. Snow blower section.

What? You think we're all better than the Yello Pages

I've got a TORO that I inherited that has never been used. Email me if you are curious.

Purchased new stuff (weed wacker and blower) at P&P in Maplewood, had things repaired at McManus (Scotland Road in Orange) and bought a used larger snowblower that still runs like a champ at Fred's Small Engine on Burnet St. (little road that runs between Canoe Brook/East Hobart Gap and Northfield Ave. - near the Shoprite) in Livingston. McManus and Fred's seem to carry used and reconditioned things, P&P newer things, but they have all been helpful and I've been satisfied.
