Banking Cock-up. Have you been affected?

Direct deposits and Zelle aren't going through.

Well I sure have, surely we can’t be the only two…???

I'm with TD Bank and both are down for me as of yesterday.

What bank?

Many banks. It's a nationwide problem. B.o.A. Chase, Wells, TD and on and on.

One of several articles I found doing an internet search:

Wells Fargo, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, US Bank and KeyBank still showed severe internet outages mid-day Saturday, one day after paychecks didn't hit some customers' accounts as scheduled

Internet outages continued to plague Wells Fargo, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, US Bank and KeyBank mid-day Saturday, one day after some customers didn’t receive their scheduled direct deposits due to a system-wide technical glitch.

The snafu will last “until at least 2:30” p.m. ET, Gregory MacSweeney, a spokesperson for The Clearing House told The Messenger in an email.

The Clearing House, a banking and payments company that is owned by the largest commercial banks, operates the Automated Clearing House network, the principal system used by banks and other financial institutions to transfer funds electronically, including paychecks.

Direct deposits of paychecks and other payments due yesterday were stalled by a malfunction in the ACH system. MacSweeney said that fewer than 1% of yesterday’s total transactions, or roughly 900,000, didn’t go through and that “Customers should contact their financial institution to resolve any issues.”

Things were more or less back to normal at PNC as of mid-day following sporadic outages this morning, according to DownDetector, which tracks internet outages.

A PNC customer tweeted mid-Saturday morning a screen shot of a communication from the bank titled “Delay in ACH Posting that said the bank would waive any fees for insufficient funds or overdrafts due to the glitch. The customer complained in their tweet that “It took PNC more than 24 hours to send this out.”

Meanwhile, a Bank of America customer named “Bri” tweeted early Saturday morning that “I still have not received my direct deposit. Received notice a payment was processed for a bill, yet my account balance isn’t reflecting the withdrawal. What is going on? Your communication about this issue has been downright negligent.”

The affected banks did not immediately return calls requesting comment.

DownDetector, which monitors the volume of internet service disruptions at companies’ and others’ websites, doesn’t cite the source or nature of connection glitches. While outages at some banks weren’t as high as on Friday, they were still sharply elevated, DownDetector charts showed.

The Federal Reserve, the other main ACH operator, issued an alert yesterday stating that its operations were not impacted.

Nope. Still going on.

According to Bloomberg, the Clearing House says it has been resolved!

Holy blank! ACH! (in other news, Zelle went through at usual this morning via our credit union)
