Anyone see Mad Max?

Going to see it tomorrow night.  Looking forward to it.  It looks like a real hoot. Even the NY Times raved about it.  Any MOLers see it yet?

been wondering about this one myself. I went to see Age of Ultron and I actually walked out on it. Haven't walked out of a movie in ages.

Critic reviews said "Ultron just more of the same.  Why?

Max they review with much more gusto.

Mad Max is at least 2.5 hoots.

b-b-b-b-ut. It had Joss Whedon! And Superheroes! And Scarlet Johannsen!

I saw it on Sunday. Not my style of movie (hate action movies, or what I call "boy movies"), but the 5 stars reviews and my husband asking very nicely convinced  me. It was visually appealing and very well made in that sense. The fight scenes (pretty much the entirety of movie) were well made too, not a lot of too-much-in-your-face-CGI, which seems to be the rule in hollywood now. But... I thought it was too much action-packed, even for those who enjoy it. I mean, I couldn't breath for a second, and I had a headache leaving the theatre. Also, because it was crazy battles all the time, very little time to a plot of any sort, let alone develop the characters more. Maybe if you've seen the previous ones you'd get what's going on, but for me not so much. All in all, I would never rate it 5 stars but still I didn't feel like leaving the place. I'd give it a 3.5, which considering that I don't like the genre it's good enough.

There were many explosions and things crashed a great deal truly a cinematic experience of Lord Humongeous proportions.

After seeing this film you will ride eternal shiny and chrome!

Thanks everyone.  I enjoyed it a lot.  It was what I was expecting.  I had heard an interview with the director about the filming and was really impressed that those vehicles and high speed stunts were mostly not CGI.

db... If you walked out of Ultron I don't think you would like this one either.  I didn't want to walk out of Ultron but I wasn't very impressed.  Except with the guy who plays Thor as he in the dictionary under the definition of REALLY HOT!!!!!

FWIW calling this a boy movie is a bit sexist isn't it?  My wife, for example, enjoyed the hell out of it.

I walked out of Ultron.

I liked the original Mad Max  and follow-ups  "Break the deal, face the wheel."

Mildly disappointing. Little more than a movie length version of the last 20 minutes of The Road Warrior. The good reviews made me think there was something more going on here.

I'll watch the first Mad Max movie 3 times a day. The sequels not so much. I'll wait for the blu-ray

Just LOVED it!!!

When I want plot I read a book, in movies I want ACTION!!!

Same here. Expected some semblance of a storyline I cared about, but got nuthin'.

If you're into actions scene after action scene, this movie is for you.

I like action movies a lot but without some pacing and build up of tension, the action is just white noise with no emotional umph. The last Act of the Road Warrior was tense and intense. The essentially identical road scenes that made up most of this movie were not. Apart from the endless action scenes, the movie was completely lazy. Mel Gibson was positively Shakespearean compared to the occasional one syllable grunts that passed for Tom Hardy's dialogue. I also found the pretty harem wives of the Evil Leader to be useless and kind of embarrassing as female characters.

By the way, did anyone notice that the "warboy" turned good is the boy from About a Boy?
