Any good furniture refinishers out there?

If you're looking to do it yourself, you've got a lot of work on your hands! But depending on the desk, you might want to 1) use chemicals to remove the finish using a ton of rags to prevent uneven color; 2) use very fine sandpaper and a lot of it, to get ride of finish if you didn't do it in #1, and then more fine and medium fine sandpaper, and then 3) use Homer Formby or a similar Home-Depot-style finish. Or instead of #3, use lots of linseed oil spread all over (the furniture, not you!) and then a few layers of Johnson pastewax.
