Antivirus Settings

The McAfee AV that came with my laptop is expiring today.  After sniffing around on smarty pants tech web sites, I decided to go with a combo of the built in Defender AV and the premium version of Malwarebytes.

It seems that when McAfee is installed, it automatically disables Defender's firewall function while leaving everything else on.  But there is no clear way to reactivate the Defender firewall.  The Defender Security Center tells you to open McAfee but when you go there, there is discernible way to reactivate Defender's firewall.

Do I first have to uninstall Mcafee?

Yeah. Just uninstall McAfee and it should revert to normal Windows settings.

(Caveat: I don't mess with McAfee to know this for this specific instance, but this is what normally happens when removing products that have their own firewall.)

Upon deeper review, I think the Defender firewall was always on.  While I have this thread going, I wouldn't mind hearing suggestions about items of Crapware/Bloatware that should/could be uninstalled.  I have Windows 10.
