A single song to discuss: Coyote

I have always loved this song: Joni Mitchell's Coyote, among so many wonderful, musical, witty and literary Joni Mitchell songs.  My favorite version is from The Last Waltz, see below. See the lyrics here. Who or what is Coyote? A person? A feeling? A temptation? A lifestyle? I think the song has warm an literary imagery and language. Read along as you watch her - so stunningly beautiful - perform the song, perhaps before you comment.  Love love love it. You?

Coyote is Sam Shepard. He's the one with the ranch, with an insatiable desire for women.

Interpretation here supports that view.

None of that counters the beauty and lyricism of the song.

Not at all. Love Joni!

my favorite as well. Love her tuning on her guitar.

"Who...? right....Joni Mitchell"

The beauty and lyricism of that whole album is simply breathtaking.  My favorite of all she’s done, including even Blue.

I like "Blue" and "Court and Spark" the best. But "Miles of Aisles" has my favorite "Case of You."

Hejira is her Magnum Opus. I feel like it's blissful hours long every time I play it- and sad when it's over.

I was getting friendly with Jaco right before he died; we'd play pool at a long gone bar called Magoo's in Tribeca. He had enormous hands; just engulfed your own hand when you shook.
