The Education Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills’ will host its 2nd annual music festival, Rocktoberfest in Taylor Park in Millburn on October 1st. The festival is open to the public and will include something for everyone, so save the date (Rain date is October 15th)! The fun-filled community event will kick off at 10am with a YB Fitness organized stretching class, before the 11am Fun Run around Taylor Park with live music by the Powdered Elephants, an indie-electronic rock band. The Fun Run will be followed by a STEAM hands-on expo in the Bauer Center featuring the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. Other hands-on workshops offered at the expo include local businesses, such as Front & Center Performing Arts School (musical theater/dance), So.i.Heard House of Music (music production/songwriting/DJ activities and music therapy for special needs students of all ages), Soulfege a Capella (a Capella singing workshop for all ages), Music and More (classes for children aged 0-5) and Farbrook School (arts and crafts activities), Millburn Institute of Talent (traditional Chinese Culture workshop), Joe Gill Home Remodeling (“Joe the Builder” the science inside your house hands-on workshop). The afternoon festival’s live music will kick off at noon am with Soulfege, Millburn High School’s a cappella group. Rocktoberfest’s extensive music lineup includes: Mood Ring, Maplewood-based jam/rock band; Mrs. Eller and the Fellers, a Millburn-based acoustic rock, country and folk band; Acoustic Mayhem, a country/bluegrass trio out of Jersey City; The Parkers, an alternative/electronic pop group featuring Milburn’s own, Parker-Lentz sisters; Guest MCs/Rappers Spliff Santana, Cheech Ortiz and Money Mood, Bayonne-based rappers; Count to Ten, pop/rock/alternative band; Brother Valiant, a NYC-based indie folk rock group; The Undertakers, a rock band out of Chatham; Poet Section, the rock band from Short Hills. Headlining the festival will be Particle, a Los Angeles & NY based jam-band with progressive rock roots. Oktoberfest-inspired food and beverages will be available the entire day including a fabulous beer and wine garden. Children will enjoy face painting, hair braiding, balloon animals, airbrush and henna tattoos, inflatable obstacle course, inflatable slide, games, volleyball, photo booth and so much more all day long! All proceeds from Rocktoberfest will go to The Education Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills.
