Join Gérard Amsellem to delve into the film movements that have shaped contemporary European cinema.
Starting with the birth of “the seventh art” in France, journey through the pivotal moments of film history across Europe, spanning from approximately 1900 to 1960. Along the way, examine the impact of visionary directors and analyze samples of their work.
Much like other art forms, understanding the evolution of cinema is essential to fully appreciating its artistry.
A lifelong cinephile and scholar, Gérard Amsellem studied at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Gerard continues to be active in the world of cinema. He has directed several short films and is currently working on an independent film project and is finishing a documentary on a French painter Bernard Réquichot called a Création jusqu’au bout. He developed La Cinémathèque, a film club dedicated to quality cinema.
This event takes place in the Columbia High School auditorium.
